We are growing and looking for a motivated Service Technician to join our commercial roofing service department. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants steady, year-round work and a long-term career in the roofing and construction industry, not just a seasonal job. 

Position Overview

The Commercial Roofing Estimator plays a critical role in project success from the initial opportunity through project handoff. This position is responsible for assessing project scope, conducting roof inspections, preparing accurate estimates and proposals, and partnering closely with the sales and production teams to support successful project execution.

The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of commercial roofing, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct onsite roof inspections and evaluate project scope using plans, specifications, and other construction documents.
• Prepare detailed estimates, proposals, and bid packages for commercial roofing projects, including repairs, reroofs, and new construction.
• Perform accurate material and labor takeoffs and calculate project costs.
• Review plans, specifications, and project requirements to identify scope, risks, and potential opportunities.
• Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical expertise and support the development and closing of opportunities.
• Communicate with clients to understand project needs and recommend appropriate roofing solutions.
• Respond to RFIs and provide clear, accurate, and timely project information.
• Obtain and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Negotiate pricing and project terms to support competitive and profitable bids.
• Follow up on proposals and leads to support sales activity and maintain client relationships.
• Identify potential business opportunities and assist with expanding the company’s customer base.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, manufacturers, and industry partners.
• Coordinate the transition of awarded projects from estimating and sales to the production team.
• Maintain accurate and organized project and estimating documentation.
• Monitor project variables, risks, and opportunities and communicate relevant information to the appropriate teams.

Qualifications and Experience

• 3–5+ years of experience estimating commercial roofing projects.
• Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems, including BUR, modified bitumen, EPDM, TPO, PVC, metal, and shingles.
• Familiarity with major roofing manufacturers such as GAF, Carlisle, Versico, Elevate, and others.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to accurately calculate quantities, material requirements, labor, and project costs.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Experience with estimating and takeoff software such as STACK, EDGE, or similar platforms.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience using CRM systems and other business software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organization and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential project risks and solutions.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with sales, production, and leadership teams.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
