SUMMARY

TheSchool-AgeChildren’sAdvocateplaysavitalroleinprovidingtherapeuticcareandcurriculum-basedactivities to school-age childrenprimarily betweentheagesof6through12yearswhose parentorguardianareengagedint YWCA advocacy services. This position works as part of the Children’s Program team to provide comprehensive support to childrenandfamilies,whichincludesplanningandfacilitationofcurricula, assisting inthe coordination and implementation of special activities and events, and providing family advocacy for families living in shelter and in the community.Additionally, this position is subject to working with children and youth of all ages, depending on program needs. This flexibility ensures that our services can cater to a wide range of age groups, meeting the diverse needs of the families we serve.

ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES

Supportstheholistichealing,resilience,anddevelopmentalgrowthofchildrenimpactedby domestic violence and other trauma. Develops,plans,andimplementscurriculumforchildren,ages6-12yearsold,incollaborationwith Children’s Program Manager and other program staff. Generatesthe“Children’sProgramCalendarofEvents”monthlyincollaborationwithother Children’s Advocates. Maintainsapredictableandconsistentrhythmintheprogramaswellasexpectations,boundaries, and guidelines. Plans,prepares,andservesnutritionallysoundsnackstochildren Keepskitchenandprogramareascleanandorderly Supervisesgroupsofchildrenofvaryingsizes. Guideschildreninlearning,practicing,andmasteringdevelopmentalskillsbywayofcurriculum-based art and recreation activities, peer-interaction, and guided free-play. CoordinatesandleadsfieldtripsandspecialeventsincollaborationwiththeChildren’sProgramteam. Helpschildrendeveloptheirownsafetyplanandbuildsafetyskills. Developsandmaintainsaclean,orderly,developmentallyrich,andsafeprogramspace. Assistschildrenwithhygiene,includingbutnotlimitedtowashinghandsandtoileting,asneeded. Helpstomaintainprogramsuppliesandstorageareas. Models,explains,andupholdsChildren’sProgramrules,policiesandprocedurestochildrenand their parent or guardian. Adaptstochangingprogramneedsandavailabletoworkaflexibleschedule,includingsomeevenings,as needed. Providesbackupinrespitecaresupportofinfantsandtoddlers,asneeded Workscloselywithprogramvolunteers,includinginterns,andsupportstheirservice. Partnerswithparentsinsupportingtheoverallsocial,emotional,cognitive,anddevelopmental health of their children. Providesfamilyadvocacytomeettheassessedneedsofthechildrenserved(intakes,maintainsclient files, distribution of tangible goods, provides resources and referrals, coordination of services with school liaisons, advocates for children in educational and childcare systems). Workswithcommunitypartner(s)toorganizedeliveryofbirthdaycelebrationsforchildren. Ensuresdocumentationofallactivitiesiscompletedinathoroughmannerandturnedintoprogram manager in a timely fashion.Logs pertinent information for shift. Collects,tracks,recordsandreportsoutputandoutcomedata;workswiththeChildren'sProgramteam to complete observations and assessments of children as part of an outcome-based evaluation system Participatesinagencyorcommunityworkteams,uponrequest,includingcommittees,taskforces,or event planning. ActivelyparticipatesinweeklyChildren’sProgrammeetings,AllYWCAstaffmeetings,andscheduled internal trainings. WorkcollaborativelywiththeChildren’sProgramteamandotherYWCAdepartmentstomeetprogram goals and provide support beyond assigned duties, as needed. OTHERQUALIFICATIONS

MusthavetheabilitytotransportselfinandaroundPierceCounty.Ifthatincludesdrivingyourown vehicle, then must possess current and validWashington State Driver’s license and insurance per Washington State Law Acceptable criminal history record CPR & First Aid Certification or obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
