Registered Nurse / RN - CVORShift: Full time - DaysLocation: Medical City North Hills HospitalSurgical RN is responsible for the nursing activities related to care of the patient experiencing and operative or other invasive procedure. The RN is a resource person and provides guidance to non-licensed personnel. The North Hills Hospital staff member can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric, and pediatric patients from newborn through adolescence. The attached criteria based performance evaluation provides a specific set of standards as they relate to age specific competency.Job Summary and QualificationsPosition Details:Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for you to have predictability in your scheduleCulture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staffContinuous investment in equipment including surgical instruments, devices and patient positioning for you to do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency in the Operating RoomRounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and surgical workflow improvementOn-call is required during select non-business hoursWhat you will do in this role:Evaluate patients prior to surgeryProvide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative processAssume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verificationParticipate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policyRecognize and respond to patient emergenciesDeliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiativesBe an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and moreConsistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patientsAssess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughlyEducate patients and families/caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment and follow-up measuresWhat qualifications you will need:Graduate of a school of professional nursingCurrent Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
