Communications Systems Engineer

The Communication Systems Engineer will lead design, development and maintenance of various technologies needed for various fields of communications . These professionals work on software, electronics, and equipment for communications systems such as intercom, audio visual, telephone and fiber network infrastructure.ResponsibilitiesThis individual will provide technical support in the design and delivery of projects involving CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, public address, intercom, audio visual, telephone, fiber/copper network infrastructure, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), and passenger/real-time information systems and associated hardware and softwareResponsible for assisting in the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projectsApplies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexityAs a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for our clientsAssist in the creation and development of communications system designs for assigned projectsPerform field surveys and coordinate with client representatives to complete design engineering for communications systemsEstablish strong client relationshipsGenerate technical study reports and prepare presentations to convey information to team members and clientsAttend project review and progress meetings with clientsReview shop drawings and submittals to ensure contractors' compliance with drawings, specifications, and contract requirementsCompletes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours providedAssist in the development of project specificationsResponsible for development of discipline-specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plansAids in the coordination and productivity of project team membersProvides technical guidance to less experienced project team membersWorks closely with our Director of Engineering, with our other disciplines, and on multi-discipline projectsWorks closely with subcontractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and systems integrators to ensure that designs are constructible and available in the marketPerforms quality control reviews of discipline-specific engineering project elements/deliverablesAssists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within disciplinePerforms other duties as assignedSupports the development and updates of in-house communications systems technical manualsSupports the development, updates, and instruction of in-house communications systems training coursesBasic QualificationsProven experience in one or more low voltage communications systems - CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, public address, intercom, audio visual, telephone, fiber/copper network infrastructure, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), and passenger/real-time information systems and associated hardware and softwareKnowledgeable in AutoCAD/RevitBachelor's degree in Engineering and/or 4 years of relevant experienceProven experience with transportation (mass transit/rail, aviation, etc.) communications systems preferredEngineer in Training (EIT) certification with desire to seek PE certification or PE certification preferredBICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification preferredAlignment to C3M's Standards of Excellence: Self-Motivated, Results Oriented, Adaptable, Team Player, Accountable, Ethical, Innovative, Resilient, Builds Relationships, Builds People / Teams & Followership, Sets Direction & ExecutesThe work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.The Physical Side of the Role: This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings.Your Work Environment: You’ll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. You will also spend time in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels. For this role the base salary range is $105,000-130,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
