About the Position

We’re hiring a Fireplace Service Technician with strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to high-quality customer service. HVAC, appliance, plumbing/gas, electrical, auto or other mechanical field-service experience is preferred, but prior fireplace or hearth-industry experience is not required.

We provide paid, hands-on training and support for relevant industry certifications. You’ll work alongside experienced team members, receive ongoing coaching and mentoring, and have support as you learn our products, diagnostic processes, safety requirements, and service procedures.

In this role, you’ll spend most of your time in customers’ homes, diagnosing problems, performing maintenance and repairs, and making sure fireplaces and related heating equipment are operating safely and correctly. You’ll work on gas, wood and electric fireplaces and inserts, chimneys, and related systems, using manuals, diagnostic tools, and hands-on problem-solving.

· Assist with and perform service, maintenance, and repair of gas, wood and electric fireplaces and inserts, chimneys, and related systems

· Diagnose equipment problems and complete repairs using manufacturer guidance and established company procedures

· Clean, inspect, test, and adjust heating appliances

· Perform chimney inspections and cleaning, and assist with chimney repairs and installations

· Explain service findings and recommended repairs clearly and professionally to customers

· Complete service records, invoices, photographs, and other required documentation accurately

· Maintain tools, equipment, parts inventory, and the assigned service vehicle

· Follow manufacturer instructions, applicable building codes, and company safety practices

· Work independently after successfully completing the required training

· Assist with installations and other field work when needed

Qualifications

· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with an interest in hands-on service, diagnostics, and repair work

· Reliable, punctual, teachable, and able to follow written and verbal instructions

· Strong problem-solving, diagnostic, communication, and customer-service skills

· Able to maintain a clean, professional, job-site-appropriate appearance when working in customers' homes

· Comfortable using hand tools and power tools and learning to work safely with electrical components and gas-fired equipment

· Comfortable working at heights, including ladders and residential roofs, while using required fall-protection equipment

· Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company insurance requirements

· Able to lift up to 50 pounds independently and assist with team lifting and positioning heavier appliances using appropriate equipment

· Able to bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces or outdoors as job conditions require

· Able to successfully complete job-related background, driving-record, and other lawful pre-employment screening after a conditional offer

Preferred but Not Required

· HVAC, appliance, plumbing/gas, electrical, auto or other mechanical field-service experience preferred

· Technical-school or trade-school coursework

· Experience troubleshooting electrical or mechanical systems

· National Fireplace Institute (NFI), manufacturer, gas-piping, or other hearth-industry training

What We Offer

· Competitive hourly pay of $25-$35, based on relevant experience and demonstrated ability

· Overtime pay for eligible hours worked over 40 in a work week

· A regular weekday schedule, with advance notice of seasonal overtime whenever possible
