Accountant

Accountant Clayton Services is searching for an Accountant to join a thriving company in the West Houston area. The Accountant will be responsible for supporting accurate financial reporting, managing revenue recognition, assisting with month-end close, and coordinating tax schedules with external CPA partners. Job Type: Direct Hire Pay Rate: $70,000-$80,000/year Benefits: Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and additional company benefits. Work Setting: Onsite to start then transitions to hybrid Accountant Responsibilities: Maintain and support banking relationships and financial account management Prepare and coordinate tax-related documents and schedules for external CPA partners Prepare payroll journal entries, financial reports, and reconciliations Perform statutory reporting, financial analysis, and month-end close activities Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules Conduct balance sheet variance analysis and investigate discrepancies Assist with preparing audit schedules and supporting external audits Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal financial reporting policies Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function Maintain accurate documentation of accounting processes and procedures Ensure system controls, data integrity, and regulatory compliance across financial systems Collaborate with finance leadership, operations teams, and project stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting Perform additional accounting and financial support duties as assigned Accountant Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition principles Experience with project accounting and billing cycles in a services-based environment Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and lookup functions Experience with accounting systems such as Sage, NetSuite, Workday, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms Strong analytical and financial reporting skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and client financial information Accountant Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required CPA or MBA preferred 47+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience in professional services, consulting, or project-based environments preferred Experience supporting external audits preferred Accountant - Immediate need.
