Registered Nurse -Apheresis Specialist

This role involves performing all functions related to the collection of human blood, aphaeresis donors, component preparation, and hemotherapy. Responsibilities include performing quality control of solutions and equipment, conducting quality assessment audits, chart reviews, and QA reports; instructing students and new personnel; performing administrative duties; maintaining donor/patient confidentiality; assuming team leader responsibilities for overseeing fixed site or mobile collection functions; and overseeing donor reaction care, handling emergent reactions, and ensuring documentation/follow‑up is completed. Education Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing Work Experience Required – 2 years of aphaeresis or other relevant laboratory experience. Experience evaluating prospective donors/patients and performing blood pressure, temperature, pulse, hemoglobin, and hematocrit determinations according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Certifications Required – Current Registered Nurse License in the state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Proficient with Windows‑style applications, various software packages specific to role, and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, geology, chemistry, mathematics. Ability to demonstrate punctuality, flexibility, and willingness to work more than eight hours at one time.
