Hours/Week: 36-40 hours

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Experience: 2+ years of ICU or stepdown experience

What You'll Do

Provide high-quality care for adult patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, and post-surgical recovery
Manage ventilator support, assist with intubation and extubation
Administer medications and manage IV lines and central lines (CVL)
Complete tube feedings via NGT or PEG tubes
Monitor and assess neurological status using NIHSS
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RTs, therapists, and physicians
Document patient progress accurately in Meditech Expanse EMR system

What You Need

Required:

Active Louisiana RN licensure
2+ years of ICU or stepdown experience in acute care setting
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
Experience in stroke, ventilator management, and invasive procedures
Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to on-site start

Preferred:

Prior travel or float experience to MedSurg units
Strong assessment and patient management skills
Flexibility with schedule and onboarding requirements

About the Assignment This position is based on a 10-bed unit specializing in neurology, stroke, and critical care, with high-acuity adult patients. The unit operates with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, supported by a team of resource nurses, RTs, and hospitalists. Orientation includes two days of hospital training and a 12-hour shift on the unit. You'll work every other weekend, with rotations including holidays, and may be scheduled for a 3/2 or 5/2 rotation.
