Director of Pharmacy

Job Title: Interim Director of Pharmacy (Behavioral Health) Location: St. Louis, MO 63111 Job Type: Interim / Contract Assignment Start Date: July 6, 2026 Duration: Ongoing coverage until permanent hire (anticipated 6+ weeks) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, plus on-call responsibilities Weekend Requirements: On-call only Work Setting: Onsite Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Interim Director of Pharmacy to support the launch and ongoing operations of a new behavioral health facility. This leadership role is ideal for a pharmacist with strong inpatient behavioral health experience who can work independently, oversee pharmacy startup activities, and collaborate closely with executive leadership and regional pharmacy management. Key Responsibilities Lead pharmacy operations during facility startup and go-live phases. Collaborate with C-suite leadership and Area Director of Pharmacy regarding pharmacy services and regulatory compliance. Continue pharmacy setup and operational readiness activities. Procure, receive, package, and manage medication inventory. Configure, stock, and maintain Pyxis automated dispensing systems. Verify medication orders and oversee medication-use processes once patient services begin. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility pharmacy regulations. Participate in on-call coverage as required. Operate independently in a startup environment without pharmacy technician support. Required Qualifications Active Missouri Pharmacist License in good standing. Medication Therapy Services certification/authorization. Recent inpatient behavioral health or psychiatric pharmacy experience. Previous leadership or pharmacy management experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of Pyxis automated dispensing systems. Ability to work independently and manage multiple operational priorities. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Previous Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Manager, or Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) experience. Experience supporting new facility openings or pharmacy startup operations. Familiarity with behavioral health medication management and regulatory requirements. Technology & Systems Automated Dispensing System: Pyxis (experience required) Order Entry System: HCS (training provided) Additional Information Facility is newly established and licensed for up to 96 beds, with an initial patient census beginning at approximately 12 beds.
