• Full-time, permanent

• Seeking a Psychiatrist to join our inpatient mental health team in Waterloo, IA
\n
• Dedicated Medical Directorship hours.
\n
• 21 Bed adult only (ages 18 and up) Mental Health Unit
\n
• 96% fill capacity
\n
• Experienced team of 5 Advanced Practice Providers
\n
• Safety techs, Counselors, Social worker, Discharge Navigators, and experienced nursing staff
\n
• Tele psych available on unit
\n
• ED with dedicated behavioral health hallway (5 rooms)
\n
• Advanced Practice Supervision
\n
• Great community mental health support
\n
• Collegial practice and care environment, supported by highly trained physician, clinical staff, and administration.
\n
• Hospitalists consult in inpatient mental health.
\n
• Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on Epic EMR to improve care coordination.
Responsibilities: \n
• Initial psychiatric evaluation on new patients, with follow-up treatment and/or medication management with existing patients for continuum of care
\n
• Lead 8AM Monday-Friday mental health staff meeting
\n
• Lead strategic planning duties and oversight of providers within the service line
\n
• Developing best practices and collaborations with site leads and clinics
\n
• Supervision & Coaching for advance practice providers on inpatient unit & walk in-clinic
\n
• Hospital cross functional support for behavioral health services with inpatient mental health unit, walk in clinic, ED, and medical floor consults
\n
• Nursing home psychiatry evaluations
\n
• Coverage includes admissions, discharges, rounding, and discharge summaries.
\n
• Participate in treatment team activities to include the development and periodic review of plans.
\n
• Collaborate with physicians, social workers, nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress
\n
• Participate in nonrestrictive call during the week and available by phone on weekends.
\n
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical, and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities we serve.
\n
• Provide the best outcome for every patient every time
Qualifications: \n
• MD or DO
\n
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry
\n
• Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa
\n
• Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physician s field of practice
\n
• Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt)
\n
• J-1 waiver sponsorship available
