Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.

Job Duties And Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Supervise 8–15 Custodians and oversee cleaning operations for 160,000–300,000 sq. ft. of assigned facilities.
  • Provide in-service training on custodial methods, equipment, safety, and department policies.
  • Maintain performance documentation and complete Performance Planning and Review (PPR) evaluations in accordance with Civil Service guidelines.
  • Assist custodial staff with daily cleaning tasks and provide coverage when staff are absent.
  • Inspect buildings and recommend improvements in cleaning products, floor care methods, and overall maintenance practices.
  • Ensure effective communication with custodial staff, peers, and university leadership.
  • Oversee cleaning and upkeep of classrooms, offices, laboratories, restrooms, entrances, hallways, and stairwells.
  • Ensure waste removal, dusting, surface cleaning, glass cleaning, and floor care (dust mopping, spot mopping, and scheduled full mopping) are performed to standard.
  • Maintain restrooms through daily cleaning, disinfecting fixtures, restocking supplies, and removing graffiti promptly.
  • Perform related duties necessary to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly facility environment.
