The Junior Electronic / Mechanical Technician supports the repair, calibration, and testing of industrial electronic and electro-mechanical equipment under the guidance of senior technicians and specialists. This role focuses on developing technical skills while ensuring repaired units meet company quality and performance standards.

The Junior Technician repairs and validates equipment such as PLCs, drives, industrial PCBs, timers, counters, monitors, servo motors, and temperature/process control devices. Responsibilities include basic troubleshooting, component replacement, soldering, and functional testing using standard diagnostic tools and procedures.

This position requires foundational knowledge of electronics or electro-mechanical systems, good soldering skills, and the ability to follow documented repair processes. The Junior Technician is responsible for accurately documenting repairs and test results in company IT systems and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Essential duties and responsibilities include performing bench-level electronic and electro-mechanical repairs using industry-standard troubleshooting, and soldering techniques; isolating failures at the component level on industrial control equipment; repairing, calibrating, programming, and functionally testing industrial electronics; utilizing test equipment to verify proper operation and performance; performing power-up and functional testing on all repaired units to ensure quality and reliability; inspecting, cleaning, and verifying part numbers on all units processed; ordering replacement parts as required and ensuring correct components are used in repairs; accurately documenting repair actions, troubleshooting steps, parts used, and test results in company tracking and IT systems; processing pre-evaluation units to "RTS" (Ready to Ship) condition in accordance with quality standards; ensuring proper handling, labeling, and storage of all units throughout the repair process; supporting and adhering to established quality methods, processes, and procedures; identifying opportunities to improve repair processes, testing methods, and final product quality; sharing best practices, technical knowledge, and lessons learned to support team development and consistency; effectively managing time and prioritizing workload to meet productivity and turnaround expectations; properly using and maintaining shop assets, tools, and test fixtures; providing and maintaining personal hand and power tools as required; collaborating effectively in a team environment; and supporting development of new capabilities, technologies, and product lines, including servo and robotics systems when applicable.

Metrics include units per day completed (pacing); on time delivery; throughput cycle time; quality check %; test fail %; warranty % (return codes); rate of return; repair index; and BER (beyond economical repair) %.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED required; technical certificate in Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or related field a plus; internship, trade school lab experience, or military technical training considered a plus; being a driven individual and team player; and required to bring your own tools as specified by the hiring manager.

Knowledge and skills required include strong computer proficiency; being able to multi-task; ability to work at a fast pace; ability to work independently; detail oriented; must possess good troubleshooting abilities; demonstrated good soldering skills; problem solving abilities; and good communication skills.

Education and experience include a high school diploma or equivalent preferred; one to two years related experience and/or training preferred; associates degree in related field a plus; and technical school certification (related field) preferred.

Physical demands include occasional reaching/working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; frequent walking; continuous standing and repetitive hand motion; and lifting requirements include occasional lifting to 50 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and continuous lifting of up to 10 pounds.

Work schedule is a full-time position with regular hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required on Saturdays based on customer demand and is mandatory unless cancelled by senior management due to acceptable customer service levels. Additional overtime may also be scheduled as needed. Employees are expected to adhere strictly to attendance and coverage policies. Time off will be granted with proper formal notice and in accordance with company policy.

Work environment is a warehouse setting. Dress attire is casual but professional in a warehouse setting. All employees are required to wear Security access card and encouraged to wear apparel with company logo. All employees must always adhere to Safety Policies. All handheld users are required to wear the appropriate belt/holster assembly while a unit is in their possession. Closed toe, hard soled shoes must be worn. Safety shoes are recommended.

Production floor environment: This position is based on a moderately loud production floor where employees must be able to work safely around mobbing machinery, robotic equipment, and material handling vehicles. The environment includes frequent exposure to mechanical noise, alarms, and activity from people and machines.

Sensory environment: Employees must be able to verbally communicate and hear clearly to answer phones, respond to auditory alarms, and remain aware of robotic systems, forklifts, utility vehicles, and other personnel. Good visual acuity is essential to monitor the surrounding area for moving equipment and material transfers. This role requires walking throughout the production area and maintaining situational awareness through both hearing and sight to ensure movement and task completion.
