Description: Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated within the past year. The unit includes 243 bays. There is a fast track available. A separate triage area is present, and travelers may occasionally perform triage duties. ER holds are intermixed within the ER, and ER teams are responsible for their holds. There are no separate psych or seclusion rooms available. In-house security is present. The unit averages 80 to 90 patients per day. Staffing ratios are 1 nurse to 4 patients. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and PALS or ENPC. Common diagnoses include Trauma, Stroke, Sepsis, CHF, and Cardiac issues. Staffing includes both Charge Nurse and House Supervisor roles. Nurse Aids, Paramedics, and Patient Sitters are available. Respiratory Therapists handle ABGs, breathing treatments, and other respiratory needs. RNs must be able to recognize ECG rhythms as there are no Monitor Techs. Transport for X-Ray or CT is next to the Emergency Department. Phlebotomy is completed by technicians or RNs. Shifts are self-scheduled among Days and Nights. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holiday requirements are every other holiday. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating may be required to qualified units. Scrub color and dress code is navy. Unit-specific orientation is provided. Cancellation policy includes 4 shift cancellations per 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks. Charting system is Paragon.
