Job Title RT/Transport Team (Respiratory Care Practitioner) - Level III (2600011Z) Shift Night shift (7pm-7am) Sign‑on Bonus $30,000 with 2‑year commitment Job Summary This RCP III role is a dual bedside and transport position. Therapists maintain a regular bedside assignment and, during designated shifts, serve as the assigned Transport Respiratory Therapist responding to internal and external transport needs. Key Details Therapists work primarily at the bedside and are not exclusively assigned to the Transport Team. Assigned transport shifts are built into the regular schedule. Transport coverage occurs approximately 3–6 shifts every 6 weeks. When assigned as the Transport Therapist, the therapist will be called out to support patient transports as needed. There is an additional transport differential that applies during assigned transport shifts, in addition to applicable shift differentials. Responsibilities Administer all levels of Respiratory Care to treat patients with cardiopulmonary dysfunction and/or disabilities. Provide advanced practice in Acute Care, ER, and two Intensive Care units (PICU, NICU, and/or CICU). Serve as a clinical resource and preceptor for new hires and students. Maintain safety, effectiveness, and appropriate care for patients of all ages, including neonates, infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults. Lead medical procedures, including CPAP, BIPAP, High‑Flow Therapy, mechanical ventilator management, Nitric Oxide, Heliox, and HFOV. Perform CPR and invasive/non‑invasive monitoring and diagnostic procedures as appropriate. Work independently within ER, Acute Care, and critical care units a minimum of 10 shifts per year. Adhere to policies and procedures of Respiratory Care Services and Children’s National Health System. Organize, prioritize, and communicate effectively in oral and written form. Maintain proficiency in mathematical calculations and clinical skills, including continuing education and certifications. Ensure physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and endure long periods of standing and walking. Qualifications Associate’s Degree with a minimum two‑year college training in an AMA‑approved Respiratory Care Program (Required). Bachelor of Science in a health‑related field (Preferred). Minimum 5 years of overall work experience (Required). Minimum 2 years in a pediatric and/or neonatal critical care environment (Required). Minimum 2 years as a Transport Respiratory Therapist (Preferred). Required Skills & Knowledge Competency in all acute‑care delivery areas within 90 days of hire. Advanced mechanical ventilator management including Nitric Oxide, Heliox, and HFOV. Invasive and non‑invasive monitoring and diagnostic procedures. Independent practice in ER, Acute Care, and PICU, NICU, and/or CICU. Pre‑instructional teaching and mentorship skills. Strong clinical judgment under stressful situations. Compassionate, patient‑centered orientation. Basic computer skills. Required Licenses and Certifications Registered Respiratory Therapist (Required). RCP License from District of Columbia DOH Health Regulation and Licensing Administration (Required). Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) (Required). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Required). Functional Accountabilities Patient Care: Perform all patient‑care procedures per department policy and acceptable practice. Documentation: Ensure all required written documentation and data entry is thorough and complete. Staff Meetings: Attend at least four department staff meetings annually. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve clinical and administrative processes. Location & Employment Information Primary location: District of Columbia‑Washington.
