This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Job Guide: Short Haul Driver Name: Date Effective: Reports to: Transportation Supervisor FLSA: NON-EXEMPT _______________________________________________________________________________________ Job Summary: Deliver flooring products to retail and contract dealers while remaining in full compliance with all state and federal regulations. Essential Job Functions: 1. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles according to federal criteria and report all equipment defects promptly. 2. Operate all company vehicles in a safe manner, obeying all federal and state laws. 3. Enter accurate information into the onboard computer system. 4. Keep truck neat and clean. 5. Comply with standard operating procedures and safety policies. 6. Deliver and unload flooring materials to retail and contract dealers promptly and courteously. 7. Report all accidents and injuries according to company policy. 8. Record and report all expenses. 9. Verify all COD collections through the Credit Department and turn in money/checks promptly. 10. Obtain return authorization numbers for all return freight. 11. Properly fill out and turn in trip sheets, return list and daily log sheets 12. Pick up freight as authorized. 13. Spare Drivers must call in once a day between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm for routing assignments. 14. Provide prompt attention and resolution to messages from Dispatch received via phone or onboard computer system when safe to do so. 15. Drivers are to call Dispatch at the completion of their run. 16. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills Needed: Valid Class A Drivers License Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards. Must be able to understand and follow procedures. Ability to sit for 7 or more hours per day. 2. Ability to stand for 1-3 hours per day. 3. Ability to walk 1-3 hours per day. 4. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds frequently with good body mechanics or with improper body mechanics. Ability to lift 100 lbs occasionally. 5. Ability to push 300 pounds frequently. 6. Exposure to all weather conditions. 7. Frequent twisting and bending (481 or greater per day). 8. Ability to squat, kneel and reach overhead (1-3 hours per day -- need not be continuous).
