Description
The Health Education Coordinator supports the administration of the residency program by collaborating with residents, preceptors, and faculty to foster a positive educational and clinical learning environment. This role assists with coordinating educational activities and logistics, supports the Director of Clinical Services in maintaining clinic and rotation schedules, administers evaluations, and compiles feedback to facilitate timely follow-up and continuous program improvement. The person in this position does not hold an academic rank. The position is annually funded through the grant end date only and will work 8-16 hours weekly.

Job Duties
- Oversees on-campus and virtual student/resident activities
- Coordinates evidence-based learning activities through assessment
- Delivers engaging, evidence-based lectures that promote critical thinking and support learning objectives
- Assesses student/resident learning needs through validated tools
- Provides timely feedback to students/residents
- Collaborates with faculty to support curriculum quality and student/resident success
- Coordinates experiential learning activities and special projects
- Collaborates with planning, implementing, and evaluating the program
- Coordinates interdisciplinary team-based clinical practice training model
- Provides professional development activities to preceptors and other clinical staff based upon needs assessments
- Maintains the educational and professional standards set, utilizing sound teaching principles and current materials
- Demonstrates competence in clinical teaching as evidenced by appropriate scores on evaluations
- Works collaboratively, professionally, and fairly with all members of the team
- Assigns experiential learning activities in accordance with policies, objectives, and learning needs
- Develops and maintains a relationship with clinical partners and preceptors
- Serves as a liaison between clinical sites, students/residents, and preceptors
- Develops and monitors students'/residents' clinical schedules
- Ensures clinical placements adhere to guidelines and standards
- Oversees students'/residents' attendance in scheduled program activities
- Coordinates site visits and meetings with students/residents
- Assists in the development of remediation plans for students/residents, if needed
- Monitors students'/residents' documentation in learning management and clinical tracking systems
- Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
- Maintains student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA
- Serves as a role model for students
- Demonstrates care and compassion in clinical teaching, including providing constructive feedback as appropriate
- Provides weekly feedback to each student using the approved MSSON and course-specific clinical tools
- Identifies students needing remediation and collaborates with the coordinator to develop an individualized remediation plan.
- Completes all mandatory Samford University employee online certifications, including but not limited to FERPA, Data Security, Sexual Harassment, Clery Act, etc.
- Correctly clocks in and out, and approves hours worked in each bi-weekly pay period using Time Clock Plus
- Adheres to the SU technology use policies and MSSON Chromebook Agreement
- Submits all required compliance data to the designated MSSON individual
- Experiential Learning Activities Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Works to achieve stated lab/simulation objectives
- Reviews students'/residents' weekly learning objectives and is prepared for the lab/simulation
- Collaborates effectively with key personnel and faculty during lab/simulation.
- Participates in debriefing during lab/simulation
- Provides feedback to students related to improving performance during the lab/simulation.
- Models professionalism in the lab/simulation
- Creates an environment that encourages student learning and engagement during lab/simulation
- Utilizes effective pre-briefing and debriefing techniques to maximize student learning in lab/simulation
- Collaborates with faculty of the Experiential Learning and Simulation Center about personal learning needs for lab/simulation
- Completes the Essentials in Clinical Simulation course found on the CHS Simulation Center Canvas page
- Master's degree in Nursing.
- Minimum two (2) years of current clinical experience as an advanced practice nurse.
- Current certification as Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Current active, unencumbered nursing license to practice in the state of Alabama, and a clear background check.
- Current certification in the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Workers.
- Willing to work between courses on a semester-to-semester basis on the day, evening, night, and/or weekend shifts as needed.
- Ability to work with data of a confidential nature.
- Positive and effective interpersonal skills.
- Remain in a sitting/standing position for extended periods of time when tasks require desk or computer work.
- Communicate clearly to ensure safe and effective task performance.
- Work special shifts as required.
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 15 pounds as needed.
- Demonstrate light physical activities.
- Previous clinical supervision of students'/residents' clinical performance.
- Clinical experience in specialty areas (i.e. primary care, women's health, behavioral health).
