Wastewater Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Wastewater Project Manager to lead the planning, delivery and successful completion of wastewater infrastructure projects. You will manage projects from initial concept and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, ensuring that work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. Projects may include treatment works, pumping stations, sewer networks, process upgrades, environmental improvements and associated civil, mechanical and electrical installations.


Your responsibilities will include developing project plans, programmes, budgets and risk registers; coordinating design teams, contractors, consultants, suppliers and internal stakeholders; and monitoring progress against agreed milestones. You will oversee procurement and contract administration, manage change control, assess commercial performance and ensure accurate reporting to senior stakeholders. The role will also involve reviewing technical documentation, resolving delivery issues, supporting value engineering and maintaining clear records throughout the project lifecycle. You will promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, permits and quality procedures.


Applicants should have proven experience managing wastewater, water or comparable infrastructure projects, ideally within a regulated utility, engineering consultancy or contracting environment. A relevant qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, construction management or a related discipline is preferred, together with demonstrable knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, construction practices and project controls. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors and complex stakeholder relationships is essential. Strong commercial awareness, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills are required, alongside the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions under pressure. Familiarity with NEC or similar forms of contract, health and safety requirements, environmental compliance and project management software would be advantageous. A proactive, organised and collaborative approach is essential, as is a commitment to delivering sustainable, resilient and cost-effective wastewater solutions.
