Leader In Training (Part-Time)

Summary The Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The LIT and Floor Leader performs a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management, such as cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities. Works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates, and provide leadership. Compensation & Benefits Pay range: $17‑$20/hr (budgeted amount; final offers based on skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related factors). For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales. Full‑time teammates are eligible for benefits including health, dental and vision insurance, virtual care, mental health resources, 401(k) with company match, HSA/FSA, performance bonuses, teammate discount (40% off Buckle products, 25% off gift cards), paid leave, and additional benefits such as legal services and pet insurance. Part‑time teammates receive a scaled benefit package with medical plan access, 401(k) with company match, mental health resources, and paid leave as applicable. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Sales Generation and Guest Service Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, consistently prepared to provide legendary service. Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise. Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guests’ needs and desires. Anticipate and fulfill guests’ needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience. Demonstrate product utilizing product knowledge and sales education, and share that knowledge with teammates. Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices. Maintain personal sales and seek opportunities to impact teammates’ presentations using the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG). Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by store management. Provide legendary service throughout the store in Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area. Know all exchange and return procedures and turn them into showmanship opportunities. Fill out and effectively use the SPG daily to accomplish goals. Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty, including fit appointments and guest connect. Investigate and navigate ways to expand guests’ selections through Inventory Manager, advanced product search, iPad apps, etc. Maintain and build good guest relationships to develop a client‑based business. Lead by example with a high level of showmanship, excellent customer service, and attentiveness. Recognize and communicate guest levels with the team. Ask business‑driven and showmanship questions regularly to managers, team leaders, and teammates. Be coachable, allowing managers to educate on sales presentation. Consistently perform leadership actions and maintain high standards, whether or not the manager is present. Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development Consistently recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and teammate recommend. Develop skills and assist in leading, directing, motivating, and educating new teammates to meet Buckle accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention, and sales presentation standards. Maintain a positive attitude, creating a positive floor culture. Demonstrate personal dress code and coach teammates on the latest fashion. Participate effectively in daily setup, training, impact and review while using the Performance Tracker. Motivate teammates to initiate and complete daily tasks. Passionately demonstrate, coach, and influence results of denim showmanship and fit cards. Create and develop results in your department, balancing line‑management actions and completing the mid‑week check‑in. Demonstrate leadership actions during segment: Ensure guests are being helped. Get guests involved with product. Communicate goals and updates to fellow leaders and teammates. Collect guest names. Work collaboratively with both sides of the store to benefit teammates and guests. Visual Merchandise Management Own and influence product through zone ownership, ensuring product knowledge, placement, passion, and preference. Maintain weekly checklists, manage product life cycle, and track results. Assign zones and projects to teammates daily with specific learning goals. Confirm teammates follow visual standards, visual library, and weekly visual checklist. Execute and demonstrate new tools and videos related to zone ownership. Recognize merchandising opportunities from freight to floor, and communicate recommendations to store manager. Provide informative store tours and ensure sales floor is consistently sized with appropriately displayed new freight. Operations Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and special days such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. Use planners and complete opening and closing checklists. Watch for and recognize security risks and handle thefts appropriately. Follow loss prevention guidelines, including bag and purse checks. Execute and teach all POS procedures. Respond to calls from the corporate office. Handle returns and exchanges according to Buckle guidelines. Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with guests or teammates. Follow all policies regarding payments, exchanges, and loss prevention. Use all home‑page tools and guide non‑sales positions with feedback. Complete scheduled shifts and cover shifts when needed. Report merchandise handling concerns and policy violations to management and HR. Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store in line with Buckle’s mission. Apply Buckle’s code of ethics and other policies, procedures, and handbooks. Supervisory and Leadership Provide and receive feedback from peers and management. Support leadership initiatives. Promote personal and store growth. Maintain professional, mature, and stable relationships with teammates. Contribute to a positive team spirit through high‑level customer service. Execute special projects and other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
