Position

The Receptionist performs duties in the main lobby of the hospital.  Operating the hospital’s switchboard, including crisis calls, receives visitors and hands out information regarding hospital policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greets private and public visitors and other businesspersons at the hospital in a professional and courteous manner.

• Handles all incoming calls, including crisis calls, and make connections with appropriate Hospital extensions.

• Takes all messages for physicians.

• Takes messages for staff when secretaries are not available.

• Receives job applicants, hands out employment applications and answers routine employment questions.

• Assists with patient emergencies and other unusual incidents as necessary.

• Assists in handling gifts, deliveries or patients’ belongings, etc.

• Types and distributes letters, memos and other materials for staff members.

• Performs special projects or other related work as required or requested.

• Is familiar with confidentiality policies utilizing them when performing in his/her position.

• Assists with transportation for PHP and in-house scheduling.

• Performs special projects when requested or required.

• Opens and sets up Hospital lobby and switchboard in a timely manner.  Puts notices and relevant information on display board.

• Completes other appropriate business office duties as assigned and needed.

• Shows ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.                                                     

• Demonstrates ability to work with others.

• Adapt to changing situations or work assignments.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or GED

• Minimum one (1) year of experience handling phones and dealing with the public.
