Assistant Nurse Manager
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units. They provide coverage for other Assistant Nurse Managers (ANMs) as needed. The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) has responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and provides input into the evaluation of individual staff performance. They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. They adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. They equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. They cultivate alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence. The ANM contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. They promote an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organizations vision and mission. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.
- Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes within the immediate practice setting.
- Effectively functions as a leader, with demonstrated outcomes, for the immediate practice setting.
- Improves Veteran/patient driven care by resolving experience issues such as coordination of care, timeliness or process issues, common themes of dissatisfaction, or environment of care concerns for the immediate practice setting.
- Applies patient, family, and caregiver knowledge, values, and beliefs into care delivery without judgement or discrimination.
- Serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, improving outcomes for the immediate practice setting.
- Serves as a resource for patients, caregivers, and staff to address and resolve ethical issues in the immediate practice setting.
- Leads the implementation of high reliability principles and I CARE values to increase consistency of care delivered and improve patient outcomes.

The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.
