Overview The Department of Social Work and Anthropology at Auburn University at Montgomery ( AUM ) invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social Work to begin August 2027. We are expanding our BSW Program to include an online option, therefore, candidates must be willing to teach both online and in-person courses. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in scholarship and research as evidenced by a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, strengths in undergraduate teaching, and a commitment to service. They must also have a demonstrated commitment to social justice, social work education, and promoting student-faculty research. The Department of Social Work and Anthropology currently includes nine full-time faculty lines and is expected to grow over the next few years. In addition to the majors, the department offers minors in Anthropology, Child Advocacy Studies, and Social Work, as well as interdisciplinary certificates in Gerontology and Museum Studies and Public Humanities. Responsibilities Duties include teaching core and elective undergraduate Social Work courses, maintaining a productive research agenda that includes publishing and presenting in professional venues, professional advising for online and on-campus students, recruitment and retention efforts, assisting with maintaining the program’s accreditation, and adding to the service mission of the university. Qualifications A DSW or PhD in Social Work and an MSW from a CSWE -accredited program with at least two years of post- MSW practice is required. However, candidates with an MSW from a CSWE -accredited program with two years of full-time post- MSW experience and a PhD in a related field may be considered.
