Step into a vital role supporting the health and wellbeing of a medically fragile student in a school setting in Dekalb, IL. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a direct impact as a dedicated RN, working one-on-one with your assigned student throughout the school year. Key Qualifications:

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois required
• Experience with pediatric or school-based nursing preferred
• Compassion, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities
• Ability to function independently without on-site supervision from support staff (Para, RBT, CNA, or LPN)
• Willingness to ride the school bus with the student as part of daily duties
• Reliable and punctual, with professionalism to support student safety and privacy

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver dedicated 1:1 nursing care to a medically fragile student, ensuring their health needs are met during school hours
• Administer medications, monitor symptoms, and respond to emergencies following the student’s care plan
• Provide advocacy and support for the student’s physical and emotional well-being
• Document care, observations, and any incidents in accordance with school policy and RN standards
• Communicate effectively with school staff, the student’s guardians, and healthcare providers as needed
• Supervise the student during school and while traveling to and from school on the bus

This assignment runs from October 7 through May 20, with a consistent weekday morning schedule (8:15 a.m. to 12/12:15 p.m., Monday through Friday), averaging 20 hours per week. With a manageable caseload focused on just one student, you’ll have the opportunity to build rapport and make a genuine difference.
