Position Overview

The Strategic Pricing Director is an enterprise leader responsible for advancing and embedding value-based pricing across multiple business units within a large global healthcare and medical technology organization.

Partnering with Commercial, Marketing, Finance, Innovation, and regional leadership, this individual will ensure pricing decisions accurately reflect customer value, clinical and economic outcomes, and long-term growth objectives.

Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Pricing, this role leads cross-functional initiatives focused on pricing governance, analytics, and organizational change management to build scalable capabilities and deliver sustainable, profitable growth across a diverse global portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Value-Based Pricing Leadership

• Lead the design and deployment of value-based pricing frameworks aligned with corporate strategy and customer economics.
• Translate clinical, operational, and economic value into clear and credible pricing strategies across consumables, capital equipment, software-enabled solutions, and services.
• Partner with R&D, Innovation, and Portfolio Management to embed pricing strategy early in the product lifecycle, from concept through launch and lifecycle optimization.
• Support pricing strategies that reflect patient safety, quality, and outcomes while enabling sustainable value capture.

Pricing Governance, Analytics & Execution

• Strengthen enterprise pricing governance, including decision rights, escalation models, and pricing standards.
• Develop and operationalize a measurement framework that standardizes KPI definitions, data sources, and reporting cadence across business units.
• Drive adoption of advanced pricing methodologies, including:
  • Segmented Price Variance Analysis (SePVA)
  • Value quantification
  • Willingness-to-pay analysis
  • Price waterfall analysis
  • Price realization and leakage analytics
• Build and scale advanced analytics and visualization tools, including dashboards and insight routines that improve pricing performance and accelerate decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulatory and trade requirements.

Capability Building & Culture Change

• Elevate pricing capabilities through training programs, playbooks, and best practice sharing.
• Champion a value-based mindset that moves teams beyond cost-plus and competitive matching toward customer-centric value articulation.
• Mentor and influence pricing professionals and cross-functional stakeholders across the enterprise.

Lean Management & Process Improvement

• Apply Lean Management principles to improve pricing process speed, quality, and consistency.
• Lead Kaizen events and structured problem-solving initiatives to strengthen governance and reduce pricing leakage.
• Establish standard work for launch pricing, deal approvals, exception handling, and escalation routines.

Business Unit & Market Partnership

• Serve as a trusted advisor to business and regional leadership, partnering across Commercial, Marketing, and Finance.
• Support pricing strategy for new product launches, portfolio transitions, innovation platforms, and digital solutions.
• Balance global consistency with local market realities, including competitive dynamics, procurement behavior, and channel economics.

Executive Communication & Influence

• Deliver concise, data-driven pricing insights to senior leadership.
• Influence enterprise-wide decisions related to growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline; MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic pricing, value management, or commercial strategy.
• Demonstrated success implementing value-based pricing in complex, global, multi-business organizations.
• Strong ability to influence across functions and organizational levels without direct authority.
• Familiarity with health economics, reimbursement, and customer value outcomes.
• Proven change management leadership experience.
• Advanced analytics skills, including tools such as Power BI, Minitab, and similar platforms.
• Lean and continuous improvement experience applied to commercial and pricing processes.
• Strong commercial acumen within healthcare, medical technology, diagnostics, life sciences, or related industries.
