Custodian Position

The Board of Education of Middlesex County Magnet Schools is currently accepting applications for the Custodian position for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain a Boiler-Fireman Low-Pressure (Black Seal) License within one year of employment.

Responsibilities include assuming responsibility for the opening and closing of the school each day, supervising all custodians under their authority, overseeing custodial operations to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable school environment, scheduling daily tasks, supervising the work of custodians, participating in daily cleaning of facilities, monitoring and regulating HVAC systems, participating in the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training of custodial staff, maintaining inventory and recommending purchasing supplies, tools, equipment, and fuel, monitoring the time records of all custodians in the school and certifying them for salary payment, providing the Director of Facilities and/or the Custodial Supervisor with an evaluation of custodians' performance, completing custodial reports, building condition reports, and other records as required, ensuring that all fire/safety and environmental laws and regulations relating to building maintenance and operation are enforced, planning and monitoring the school's shipping and receiving function, ensuring that hazardous materials are properly handled, stored, and disposed of, creating schedules for custodians that are consistent with the building's needs, overseeing the completion of monthly fire-extinguisher requirements, ensuring daily, consistent Boiler Room Inspections are completed to ensure proper boiler operation, and performing any duties and responsibilities within the scope of employment as assigned by the Building Principal/Director of Facilities/Custodial Supervisor.

Salary range is $44,309 to $66,509 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and professional credentials. Comprehensive benefit package includes health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
