Program CoordinatorMajor Responsibility: Facilitate Programming And Advocacy Initiatives:Coordinate and implement DPS events and programs, including the MET High School internship program, etc.Carry a portfolio of managing at least two programs/events that engage with the student populationProvide logistical support in coordinating meetings, managing the department engagement calendar, as well as logistics for programs (taking meeting minutes, event set-up, food, location, securing guest speakers, emailing and posting flyers around campus, and photography) Conduct outreach and identify student groups and departments for future partnershipsSupport the development of opportunities for partnerships by engaging community organizations, community leaders, youth, and other stakeholders in Providence.Supervise student assistants and manage assignments that support department success, such as distribution of printed and electronic materials; other clerical needs; general event support Represent the team at events and programs, with a willingness to train and serve as an instructor for coursesResearch different topics of importance, such as policing, community relations, accountability, safety, and resources for survivors of crimeAttend and participate in on and off-campus working groupsMajor Responsibility: Support The Department's Communications Efforts:Assist the Director with communications projects as neededDraft the community newsletter, including gathering content and growing audiencesManage department social media accountsAssist with the design of graphic materials, including event posters, recruitment materials, safety information, maps, and pamphletsMaintain website updatesSupport public information and transparency initiatives, including the DPS Community Survey, complaint forms, and other feedback mechanismsCreate PowerPoints and other tools for presentationsMajor Responsibility: Data Collection And Dissemination:Manage the registration system and track attendance metrics for department events, programs, and training courses.Maintain and audit the monthly inventory of department materials, outreach supplies, and promotional itemsMonitor, analyze, and report on social media and website analytics to evaluate the reach and effectiveness of digital communication strategiesAssist with implementing digital and in-person strategies to collect feedback, recommendations, and input from community membersAssist with gathering and collecting data for annual reporting and CALEA accreditationDecisions Free To Make:Responding to inquiries regarding programs and concerns from community membersManage and adjust the program calendar, schedule routine meetings, and coordinate logistics for events or workshopsResolve minor, day-to-day concerns with program participants, vendors, or venues using established proceduresDecisions That Depend On Position's Advice:Making modifications to program curriculum, eligibility criteria, project timelines, etc.Issuing public-facing materials and communicationsBudget expendituresDimensions:Engagement and programming for the University's approximately 10,000 students and 4,000 staff/faculty regarding personal and public safety issues.Working with the Director, publicize department events and programs creating and utilizing a variety of marketing toolsWorking with staff and faculty to create and maintain relationships with University/community partners and area organizations and provide coordination for partnership programmingWorking with staff and students, initiate meetings and manage logistics; execute communications to involved partiesSupervise student assistants and manage assignments that support department success such as distribution of printed and electronic materials; other clerical needs; general event supportUse practical and mature judgment to resolve low to medium level conflicts or issues as they ariseJob Qualifications And Competencies:Education And Experience:Bachelor's Degree preferred, plus 2- 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of higher-education or non-profit setting is highly desirable.Job Competencies:Strong project management, organizational skills, and event planning experienceKeen attention to detailMust have the ability to think critically and creativelyDemonstrated ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and connect with people with various backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences.Strong listening, oral, and written communication skills.Computer skills/experience in: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Social Media.platformsMust be flexible and able to adapt in a changing and emergency -service centered environment and able to meet time-sensitive deadlines.Understanding and familiarity of issues regarding policing and groups from diverse populations, particularly from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, undocumented, first-generation college, low-income, and international communitiesExperience in outreach, marketing, or grassroots/community organizingFamiliarity with programs like Canva, Adobe, Qualtricsor Mailchimp a plus.Evenings, weekends, and holidays may occasionally be required.All offers are contingent on the successful completion of a criminal background check and education verification.
