Job DescriptionThis employee is responsible for planning, designing, developing, and configuring database systems to meet business needs and requests. The role is a mix of development and production DBA responsibilities.Responsible for administration, capacity planning, engineering/design, performance monitoring, and optimization of the DB2 for I database platformshould be able to adapt to rapidly changing environments and technologyJOB FUNCTIONSSupports the design and implementation of new database environments and redesign of existing systems to fulfill business needsMonitors and evaluates performance of IBMi databasesTroubleshoots database performance issuesManages database objects Libraries, views, tables, stored procedures, triggersSupports developers and testing team by maintaining test environments and configuring databases to development specificationsWorks with application development teams to develop data models that support business processesEnsures DB changes adhere to best practicesReviews all proposed DB changes proposed by IBMi development teamCreates technical support documentation for databasesActs as a SME on IBMI database structure and environmentJob RequirementsEducationBachelor's Degree RequiredWork Experience10+ years of IBMi/iSeries/AS400 experience Required7+ years of experience supporting DB2 for databases in an enterprise environmentRequiredExperience working with enterprise applications RequiredRelevant certifications or training PreferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrable experience with key relational database concepts such as database normalization, referential integrity, index strategy, and transaction isolationExpert knowledge of the DB2 for I SQL languageAdvanced knowledge of trigger concepts, methodologies, and implementationIn depth experience diagnosing and remediating Db2 for i Database performance issues using tools such as Plan Cache, Visual Explain, Index Advisor, Detailed Database Monitor, or similar toolsExpert knowledge of modern RPG programming language (ILE/Free)Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with attention to detailEffective verbal and written communicationPreference given to someone hands-on experience using system performance tools such asJob Watcher, Collection Services, PEX Analyzer, or similar toolsExperience using Turnover, Aldon, or similar change management toolsJob DetailsJob Type: Full-timeCategory: Information Technology
