Grading Foreman

This is a Union sponsored position, with pay rate subject to Union guidelines. Candidates must be members of the Operating Engineers Local No. 3 and meet Union specifications.

Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of Grading operations
• Assure that all safety and quality measures are taken
• Coordinate with others including subcontractors, trucking and plant and perform other duties as assigned
• Travel is required and working in extreme weather conditions should be expected.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years of proven Grading experience.
• Supervisory and Strong communication skills (verbal and written) as well as basic computer skills
• Knowledge of all grading and paving equipment and operations
• Valid driver's license
• Strong commitment to quality, safety and customer satisfaction
• Able to read and understand plans
• Know how to set up and run GPS systems
• Finish blading with GPS controls
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience: 5+ yrs of heavy civil construction experience with at least 5 years in overseeing grading construction.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge base of construction concepts, field application, and staging of work.
• Strong blueprint ready and analysis skills.
• Strong communication skills including troubleshooting, conflict resolution and problem solving.
• Strong resource planning, construction phasing and trade work coordination of assigned projects.
• Strong leadership skills
• Intermediate computer skills
• Ability to support world class safety culture.
