Full Time

The MRI Technologist performs independently and with self-initiative under indirect supervision. Responsibilities include producing diagnostic MRI examinations while maintaining a high standard of patient care, confidentiality, MRI safety, and adherence to ACR Zone safety policies.

• Completion of an AMA-approved radiology program.
• Current Mississippi State Board of Health Medical Radiation Technologist license.
• Registered Technologist (R.T.) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Current CPR/BLS certification.

• MRI Registry preferred.

• Perform ordered MRI examinations according to departmental and organizational policies.
• Verify physician orders, diagnoses, and patient identification prior to imaging.
• Document MRI screening for all individuals entering MRI zones.
• Administer contrast media according to protocol and document usage appropriately.
• Assist radiologists and physicians as needed.
• Evaluate images for technical quality, proper orientation, and patient identification.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and adequately stocked work environment.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and continuing education.
• Train students, new employees, and cross-train staff as needed.
• Assist with patient transport and MRI scheduling activities.
• Demonstrate proficiency in operation of MRI equipment and related technology.

• Practice safe MRI procedures and adhere to MRI safety standards at all times.
• Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
• Maintain current knowledge and competencies through continuing education.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and coworkers.
• Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and performance standards.

• Ability to perform all duties using proper body mechanics.
• Frequently move and assist patients and equipment.
• Stand for extended periods with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.
• Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and follow instructions.
• Exposure to radiation, noise, infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and other healthcare hazards.
