School Van Driver

Reports To: Supervisor of Transportation Department: Rolling Hills Transit SUMMARY: This position is identified as asafety-sensitive position. The positionis responsible for the transportation of the following using a company vehicle. 1.Studentsto and from school 2.Clientsto and from summer camps 3.Passengersto and from predetermined locations Ensure adherence to safety rules. The vandriver may assist students and clients in boarding or exiting the van. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Drive multi-passenger van to transportstudents to and from school, passengers to predetermined locations as wellas transporting clients with disabilities to and from summer camps. Comply with traffic regulations in orderto operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner. Follow safety rules as students areboarding and exiting buses, and as they cross streets at bus stops. Pick up and drop off students and/orclients at regularly scheduled locations, following strict time schedules. Read maps, and follow written and verbalgeographic locations. Regulate heating, lighting, andventilation systems for passenger comfort. Keep bus interiors clean for passengers. Maintain knowledge of first-aidprocedures. Maintain order among passengers duringtrips, to ensure safety. Prepare and submit reports that mayinclude the number of passengers or trips, hours worked, mileage, and fuelconsumption Candidate will have to successfully complete and maintain certification of ESPI training. ESPI techniques are only used in compliance. with Rolling Hills Transit policy and procedure and within guidelines established by third-party experts in the proper and legal use of ESPI. Performs other duties asassigned by the Director. SKILLS Operation and Control - Controlling operationsof equipment or systems. Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials,or other indicators to make sure the van is working properly. Social Perceptiveness - Being aware of others'reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Behavior Management -The ability to managebehavior on the van to ensure safety at all times. EDUCATION A minimum of a high school diploma orequivalent. WORKING CONDITIONS Some clientele may at times be verballyabusive or disrespectful.
