Nurse Manager - Pediatric Emergency

Overview Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), The George Washington University Hospital, and an Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. The integrated delivery system provides a robust network of care for District residents, with a focus on access to high-quality care in Wards 7 and 8. The hospital includes trauma care with a helipad for emergency transport, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, a NICU, Intensive care, Medical/Surgical care, Telemetry, and an ambulatory pavilion for outpatient services. We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Emergency Department Nurse Manager who will provide leadership and operational oversight for the Pediatric Emergency Department, ensuring safe, high-quality, family-centered care for pediatric patients in a fast-paced emergency setting. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the Pediatric Emergency Department, ensuring efficient workflow, staffing coverage, and patient throughput. Lead, coach, and develop nursing staff through performance management, education, and mentorship. Ensure delivery of age-appropriate, evidence-based emergency care for infants, children, and adolescents. Monitor patient safety, quality metrics, and regulatory compliance standards. Partner with physicians and leadership to improve patient experience, outcomes, and departmental performance. Manage scheduling, productivity, payroll, and departmental budgets. Coordinate hiring, onboarding, retention, and staff engagement initiatives. Respond to escalated patient, family, or operational concerns in a timely and professional manner. Support emergency preparedness, disaster readiness, and departmental readiness plans. Lead quality improvement projects and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. DC RN License required. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 3–5 years of Pediatric Emergency or Emergency Department nursing experience. Previous leadership or management experience preferred. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required. Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills. Knowledge of pediatric emergency standards, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement practices.
