Medication Compliance Nurse Auditor (LVN)

Reports to: Regional Clinical Director and COO

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our regional team as a Medication Compliance Nurse Auditor (Pharmacy Nurse). Reporting to the COO and Regional Clinical Director, this role ensures medication administration practices across our skilled nursing facilities meet the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate combines strong clinical judgment with a passion for education and continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Medication Pass Observations: Conduct scheduled and unscheduled evaluations of nurse administration practices, verifying adherence to the rights of medication administration and proper technique.

• Facility Audits: Inspect medication carts, medication rooms, emergency supplies, storage temperatures, and controlled substance accountability logs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for medication storage.

• Regulatory Compliance & Mock Surveys: Support survey readiness and ensure adherence to CMS and state health department guidelines.

• Staff Education: Deliver in-service training and real-time coaching on safe medication handling, high-alert medications, insulin administration, and infection control.

• Quality Improvement (QAPI): Participate in medication error tracking and trending, and lead root-cause analysis to develop corrective action plans.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Licensure: Active, unencumbered LVN license (requirements vary by state and employer).

• Experience: At least 2–3 years of clinical experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric care, including experience in staff education.

• Knowledge: Familiarity with federal/state pharmacy regulations and HIPAA guidelines.

• Travel: Ability to travel frequently (up to 75%) to assigned regional facility sites.
