Job Description Summary Full time Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapy resident position, in conjunction with the Ortho Residency program at MUSC. 40 hour work week will be arranged around class time and based on clinic demand/needs, which may include early, late, or Saturday schedules. Job Description The Physical Therapy Resident is a post‑graduate physical therapist participating in a clinical residency program. They work under the direction of the clinical residency program director and Rehab manager. The resident also participates in educational, program development, and community service activities. Residents must meet all curriculum requirements of the residency program, receive general supervision, and collaborate with other healthcare team members. Key Responsibilities Consult with patients to understand their physical condition, symptoms, and medical history. Assess and interpret patient evaluations and test results. Develop personalized treatment plans using a variety of treatment techniques. Implement individualized rehabilitation programs, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities such as heat, cold, and ultrasound. Educate and coach patients on therapeutic exercises and stretches to improve their condition. Provide hands‑on therapy and pain‑management techniques such as manual therapy, joint mobilizations, and soft tissue mobilizations. Maintain accurate patient electronic medical records, track goals and progress, and document adaptations to treatment plans. Advise patients and their families on in‑home treatment options and recovery expectations. Additional Job Description Qualifications outlined per residency program guidelines. (Examples: Transfer 100 lb. non‑ambulatory patient = 50 lbs. force; Push 400 lb. patient in wheelchair on carpet = 20 lbs. force; Push patient stretcher one‑handed = 25 lbs. force.)
