Job Responsibilities

Animal Care

• Provide animals with food, water, enrichment, and other essential daily needs. This includes transferring animals in and out of kennels to outside play and enrichment areas.
• Ability to handle scared/timid/unsocialized dogs.
• Laundry, dish washing, cleaning floors and kennels daily.
• Help animals find new homes via our first come, first served adoption process. Meet with potential adopters to discuss animals and adoption plans.
• Commit to a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental approach with all guests, callers, and coworkers.
• Maintain clean animal housing following our high-standard cleaning guidelines. At times, this may include infectious disease protocol to keep the pets safe and free of illness or disease.
• Welcome new arrivals via owner surrenders, stray intake, transfers from other organizations, and end-of-life services.
• Administer medical treatments under the direction of a veterinarian.
• Other duties as assigned

Office Duties

• Maintain detailed and accurate records in our animal management software
• Answer phones and direct calls to appropriate staff and channels
• Familiarize yourself with shelter programs, services, and fees
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Availability to work a mix of weekdays, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to routinely carry 25lbs and up to 50lbs
• Must be committed to our organizational mission and values
• Prior animal care experience is a plus
• Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply

Work schedule is:

Sunday - Saturday each week

Job Type:

Permanent Full-Time: 40 HOURS PER WEEK

Salary: $13.56 /hour
