RN Obstetrics L&D

Job Summary:

The Obstetrics / Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods. This role involves continuous fetal monitoring, patient assessment, medication administration, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe and effective maternal and neonatal outcomes. The RN is expected to maintain certifications in neonatal resuscitation and fetal heart monitoring, and to communicate effectively with patients and providers in a fast-paced clinical environment. Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive perinatal nursing assessments and monitor maternal and fetal status.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document patient responses.
• Provide continuous fetal heart monitoring using Fetal Heart Monitoring Intermediate skills.
• Respond promptly and effectively to obstetrical emergencies including neonatal resuscitation.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records, preferably EPIC.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards in the Labor & Delivery unit.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado or ability to obtain prior to start date.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) minimum.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be obtained upon hire).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program Advanced Provider (NRP) certification.
• Fetal Heart Monitoring Intermediate (FHM) certification from the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses.
• STABLE Program certification (STABLE Learner).
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a perinatal RN.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor's (BSN) or Master's (MSN) degree in Nursing.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.

Special Considerations:

• Work is performed in a Labor & Delivery unit with potential exposure to high-acuity maternal and neonatal cases.
• Must be prepared for fast-paced clinical situations requiring critical thinking and rapid response.
• Travel nurses are responsible for securing their own housing, with awareness that local housing costs are high.

Scheduling:

• Day shifts in the Obstetrics / Labor & Delivery unit.
• Shift assignments are based on departmental needs and may require flexibility.
