Cost Accountant

DescriptionWe are looking for a Cost Accountant to join a growing manufacturing and retail business in Orange, California. This position will focus on product costing, inventory valuation, and financial analysis that helps leadership understand margin performance and production efficiency. The role is well suited for someone who enjoys partnering with operations, bringing structure to cost data, and contributing to informed business decisions in a hands-on environment.Responsibilities:• Analyze production costs, material usage, labor, and overhead to maintain accurate standard costing across manufactured products.• Review inventory balances and valuation methods to support reliable financial reporting and strong cost controls.• Partner closely with plant and operations leaders to evaluate manufacturing performance, explain cost variances, and identify improvement opportunities.• Prepare margin and profitability reporting that gives leadership clear insight into product performance and key cost drivers.• Support the costing of new products and updates to existing product lines by assessing materials, processes, and expected production expenses.• Monitor standard cost changes and maintain cost records within NetSuite to ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy.• Assist with monthly close activities related to inventory and cost accounting, helping deliver timely and accurate results.• Contribute to process improvements, including support for accounting system-related changes that affect costing workflows and reporting.Requirements• 2-3 years of hands-on cost accounting experience with direct ownership of core cost accounting activities.• Background in a manufacturing environment with strong understanding of inventory, production, and cost flow concepts.• Experience working with standard cost accounting methods and analyzing related variances.• Ability to collaborate effectively with plant management and operations teams on financial and production matters.• Working knowledge of NetSuite in an accounting or cost accounting setting.• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into practical business insights.• High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and dependable reporting.Job typePerm
