We infuse a commitment to civic engagement, equality, and communal action into each of our programs, which include early childhood education, youth development, healthy aging, mental health and wellness, English classes for adult immigrants, community centers, and the arts.University Settlement has been providing a variety of effective and strengths-based community-based programs for children grades K- 8th. The Activity Specialist will be responsible for facilitating workshops while ensuring the safety and engagement of children. The program will provide academic support; artistic, athletic, cultural, and athletic enrichment; therapeutic services; and opportunities for family involvement.Responsibilities:Activity Specialist II will work with groups of 15-20 studentsFacilitating sessions in the areas of dance, music, leadership, sports, ESL, visual arts, and computer etc.Specialists should be able to integrate young people’s life experiences while integrating thematic curriculumCreate an environment of active and genuine learning by employing a range of teaching strategies that meet the needs of all studentsProjects should incorporate career awareness activities including field trips and guest speakers as well as community outreach and involvementWrite, revise and implement lesson plans using DYCD framework for approval by directorMonitor and report on students’ progress throughout the term of the activityQualifications:Previous experience teaching/facilitating workshops in one of the subject areasHigh School Diploma or HSE requiredAbility to work as a member of an interdisciplinary teamAttend planning, supervisor, and evaluation sessionsStrong communication skillsAbility to commit for the entire school yearMust be over 18 years oldHighly energetic, dynamic, and positiveWork Schedule: Partial Year Part Time, Monday - Friday, 3:30pm - 6:00pm, 15 hours per weekWe are committed to building a diverse and inclusive community.
