Pharmacy Technician I - Outpatient Pharmacy

Overview:Schedule:Candidate must have the availability to work between 7:30 AM to 7:00 PMMonday to Friday - 7:30 AM to 7:00 PMWeekend and Holiday Rotation Required - 7:30 AM to 7:00 PMEvery 3rd Weekend RotationHoliday Rotation - One major, one minorJob Description Summary:Provides technical support for outpatient pharmacy with the processing of prescription orders along with preparation and dispensing of patient medications within the three outpatient pharmacies.Job Description:Essential Functions:Accepts prescriptions, establishes billing/patient charges, documents patients’ allergies correctly, interprets and enters information regarding the outpatient prescription into the computer system.Serves as call center agent; answers the telephone and assists caller or forwards to appropriate individual (pharmacist, pharmacy administration, etc.).Prepares and packages medications for outpatient use.Independently resolves on-line adjudication problems with third party payors.Replenishes pharmacy stock area and notifies inventory coordinators of concerns.Education Requirement:As required by listed licensure and/or certification requirement.Licensure Requirement:Board of Pharmacy Technician License (Registered or Certified) Technician Trainee accepted with expectation of incumbent to become registered or certified within 90 days of hire.Certifications:Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date (PTCB, ExCPT), required.Skills:Demonstrated skills in algebra by passing score on math competency administered on site.Experience:Six months of previous pharmacy experience, preferred.Physical Requirements:OCCASIONALLY: Biohazard waste, Interpreting Data, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Machinery, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, SittingFREQUENTLY: Bend/twist, Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens, Decision Making, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Problem solving, Squat/kneelCONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, Chemicals/Medications, Color vision, Computer skills, Depth perception, Flexing/extending of neck, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Hearing acuity, Peripheral vision, Reaching above shoulder, Repetitive hand/arm use, Seeing – Far/near, Standing, Walking\"The above list of duties is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
