OverviewThe Director, Purchasing Process, & Compliance is responsible for the management and standardization of all activities involved in purchasing, expediting, and logistics to support operations in ensuring successful project execution. This position will ensure continuous improvement of the related processes, systems, and total cost, driving improvements in department performance including cost reductions, and data driven performance management. The Director will provide transformational leadership to build a best-in-class sourcing department that directly impacts company performance and profitability. Location and Travel Details: This is a remote position, which can be based anywhere in the U.S. This position supports our business across the United States. This position will have up to 50% travel. ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions:Lead and support creation of all purchase orders, change orders, and supporting activities for all purchased materialsEstablish effective processes and systems of delivery dates for all materials in accordance with the scheduleDevelop and enhance supply chain productivity and operational processes, implementing industry standard approaches for forecasting, purchasing, risk mitigation, and vendor management. Monitor purchasing surface area to reduce the impact of disruptions and ensure business continuity of the functionDirect purchasing activities, working closely with upstream stakeholders and vendors, to effectively align and meet business goalsBuild and sustain relationships with key suppliers to drive down costs, improve quality and service levels that drive supplier performance against operational metricsManage capital requests and functional budget to include planning and forecasting activities for expense and headcountEffectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders for purchasing activities, maintaining clear lines of sight for such stakeholders and the services provided by the departmentPlan and direct policies and procedures for purchasing goods and servicesSupport negotiations of supplier and vendor contracts and service agreementsAudit purchase orders and change orders for accuracy and compliance with company guidelinesNegotiate supplier and vendor contracts and service agreementsOversee purchasing sources for services, equipment, and suppliesReview, analyze, and monitor vendor/subcontractor quotes and bidsMaintain updated knowledge of market status and current rates for goods and servicesResolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliersEnsure contract documents are issued correctly and on scheduleManage the establishment and/or monitoring of procurement goalsDevelops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate or insufficient to support businessMaintain knowledge of all market conditions that may impact the company and advise of trends and the potential impactsWork collaboratively with management to coordinate supplier selection, credit and terms, track supplier performance standards, and conduct ongoing evaluationDirect requisitions and purchase orders for materialsCollaborate and work closely with procurement leadership on process, strategies, and overall department process improvementsOther duties as assignedQualificationsEducation and Work Experience Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, procurement, construction management, or related field 10+ years relevant procurement or contracting experience, at least 5 years ina a management and leadership roleKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, or other continuous improvement strategiesExcellent customer service skills, ability to influence and lead employees, internal partners, and external vendorsAbility to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standardsAbility to think strategically and multitask in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of Company's offerings (solutions, products, and services)Excellent collaboration and written/verbal communication skillsKnowledge of best practice and benchmarking function to industry normsExcellent knowledge of contract administration and procurement practicesExcellent knowledge of purchasing, goods deliveries, and demand planning practicesAbility to interact with all levels within the organization, client, and suppliers to provide information necessary to obtain and complete a projectAbility to travel up to 50% of the timeWorking Environment:When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautionsThis work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noisesPhysical Demands:MasTec, Inc. is an EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY employer.
