Project Manager, Robotic Automation

About the Role

The Project Manager owns multiple custom automation projects at the same time, from PO receipt through final customer signoff. This person is the single point of contact for the customer and works closely with the engineering, controls, and build teams to deliver every project on time, on budget, and to the customer’s satisfaction. This is a full-time role that can be remote or hybrid, with hybrid preferred for candidates within commuting distance of an office. Travel is about 10 to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from PO receipt to final signoff using established company processes
• Build, track, and communicate project timing
• Manage project costs and report financial status monthly, or more often as needed
• Lead the engineering phase, keep scope creep in check, and get customer approvals
• Quote and carry out engineering changes
• Run cross-functional meetings with department managers and track open issues to resolution
• Coordinate with outside suppliers as needed
• Coordinate system build phases with project teams
• Conduct internal and customer runoffs
• Organize system shipment and installation
• Keep open communication with the customer through the life of the project

Qualifications

• 6 to 8 years of technical project management on robotics, automation, or tooling projects
• Experience managing several engineered-to-order projects and customers at once
• Understanding of the technical side of automation, such as robots, PLCs, and machine builds
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in MS Project and MS Office
• Valid passport for occasional domestic and international travel
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field preferred
• PMP or similar formal PM training is a plus but not required
