Academic Advisor
$48k - $54kKansas State University
About This Role The Carl R. Ice College of Engineering at Kansas State University seeks to hire multiple student-centered academic advisors to support student success, course selection, and academic/career goals for one or more departments within the college. These positions will advise engineering students concerning their academic plans, degree progress, and goals to assist them in making personal education decisions and meeting graduation requirements, and potentially assist departmental recruiting efforts by interacting with prospective students. Additionally, academic advisors assist with the interpretation of academic policies, procedures and support services, and must maintain strict confidentiality. Successful candidates will collaborate with faculty, staff, and a team of advisors who provide academic advising for all College of Engineering students. Professional development opportunities are encouraged and supported by the college to ensure continuous growth in the role. Duties/Responsibilities:

- Assist students with special circumstances such as full withdrawals, late drop appeals, and program changes.
- Maintain accurate student advising records.
- Act as an advocate for students.

- Assist students facing academic or personal challenges by connecting them with appropriate campus and community resources.
- Participate in professional development activities, to stay current on advising practices, enhance student support strategies, and contribute to the advising program's overall effectiveness and the college's mission.
- Requires a bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience. Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager. The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the foundational knowledge in educational theory, student development and institutional policy interpretation essential to effective academic advising. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and intensive experiential learning inherent in a formal degree program.
