Overview Registered Nurse Clinical Nurse Lead - Ortho Job Category: Nursing Schedule: Full time Shift: 3 - Night Shift $15,000.00 Sign On Bonus! Summary The clinical nurse leader is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care. The Clinical Nurse Leader will facilitate and mentor others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills. In addition, the Clinical Nurse Leader will continuously assess unit needs to ensure adequate resources for current and upcoming shifts by collaborating with other departments, clinical and nonclinical, to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients in a timely manner. Finally, the Clinical Nurse Leader will demonstrate professionalism at all times and will uphold standards of practice by holding team members accountable for continued compliance. Compassion – We have heart; We respect diversity and individuality; We honor body, mind and spirit Dedication – We work hard for our patients and each other; We are committed to professionalism and excellence; We listen, we learn, we grow Community – We are welcoming and friendly; We practice kindness in all our relationships; We reach out as teachers and as leaders Integrity – We tell the truth; We are responsible in how we use our resources; We have the courage to uphold our values Competency – Attends required classes: Unit Skills fair, One mock code per quarter, ACLS, CPR, PALS (if required); Completes and turns in annual competency evaluation; Keeps individual education profile current; Demonstrates an understanding of regulatory requirements and professional practice guidelines; Has a working knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; Shows competence in department-specific skills to act as a resource and mentor; Active involvement in leadership activities (e.g., CNL development program, evaluations, PCI involvement); Promote shared governance by participating in unit-based or hospital councils Performance Improvement – Reports significant events (near misses, adverse events, patient/family complaints); Proactive rounds with team members to identify improvement opportunities; Ensures handoff communication during shifts; Delegates tasks considering staff experience and competency; Participates in multidisciplinary rounds; Monitors staff performance and competency; Ensures infection control precautions; Drives unit-based process improvement; Attends PCI trainings; Debriefs after codes or significant events; Participates in unit SWARM and Joint Commission tracers/environmental safety checks Accountability – Completes work including documentation; Prioritizes care; Prepares for oncoming shift with thorough report and organized patient care areas; Demonstrates cost-effective behaviors; Assists team members with direct patient care; Coordinates patient flow for safe, patient-centered care; Performs other department tasks as assigned; Conducts rounds with patients and families; Ensures appropriate staffing levels; Manages resources and equipment to avoid waste; Delivers disciplinary action per policy; Real-time service recovery as needed Communication – Coordinates care with all necessary units; Checks email for shifts and unit communications; Attends staff meetings and contributes to agenda topics; Maintains professional, respectful communication; Requests staffing changes as needed Professionalism – Adheres to organizational policies and behavioral standards; Follows professional standards (state board, ANA); Collaborates with other departments; Demonstrates effective communication, conflict resolution, team building, and leadership; Updates and upholds standards of practice; Participates in WOC rounding; Participates in peer interview process Role Specific Functions EP Coordinator: Oversees EP area and coordinates with Cardiac Cath Lab lead to evaluate staffing, scheduling, training, materials management, and efficiency recommendations. Perioperative: Identifies high-risk patients requiring advanced nursing judgment; conducts holistic assessment and determines action plans to move patient/family/staff toward outcomes. Requires advanced life support certification (ACLS and PALS). Rapid Response: Provides oversight and training for rapid response, stroke, and code team responses; maintains NRCPR database and analyzes performance for quality control; conducts rounds and reviews critical care shift reports; rounds on all units and notes patient conditions. Minimum Qualifications Education: Experience: One (1) year of nursing experience in an acute care setting required. Two (2) years of nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred. Licensure or Certification: . Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Knowledge of critical care techniques, tools and responses for optimal patient care Knowledge of processes and procedures for rapid response, code, or stroke calls Some Positions: Knowledge of electrophysiology and cardiac cath lab procedures Some Positions: Knowledge of surgery specialties and post-operative patient care Some Positions: Knowledge of chart abstraction, education and marketing for Chest Pain, CHF and Stroke programs Skill in evaluating performance and recommending improvements Skill in developing training materials and educating staff for critical care issues Skill in using computer systems (NRCPR, PC File/Folder, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Skill in communicating with critical care staff and physicians Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence Ability to listen and interpret instructions to take appropriate action Ability to speak and communicate effectively Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and variables #J-18808-Ljbffr
