Position Title: Endpoint Security Engineer
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid; 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Clearance Requirements: None
Position Status: 6 months+ with very likely long-term extension
Pay Rate: $75 - $85 per hour (DOE)

Position Description:
We are seeking a hands-on Endpoint Security Engineer to design, deploy, and optimize enterprise endpoint protection solutions across a complex environment. This role is ideal for a backend-focused cybersecurity professional who thrives on building, configuring, and enhancing security tools-not just monitoring alerts.

You will play a critical role in strengthening endpoint defenses by working with advanced technologies such as EDR, antivirus platforms, vulnerability management tools, and asset visibility solutions. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to reducing organizational risk.

Key Responsibilities:

Endpoint Security Engineering

• Deploy, configure, and manage enterprise endpoint protection tools (EDR/AV) such as Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, or SentinelOne
• Design and implement security policies, detection rules, and alerting mechanisms
• Optimize endpoint security configurations for performance, coverage, and threat prevention
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across endpoint security platforms

Vulnerability & Exposure Management

• Perform vulnerability assessments using tools like Tenable or Qualys
• Partner with infrastructure and application teams to remediate vulnerabilities
• Track and report on risk posture, remediation progress, and compliance metrics

Asset Visibility & Attack Surface Management

• Maintain accurate inventory of enterprise assets and ensure visibility across environments
• Support implementation and integration of CAASM (Cyber Asset Attack Surface Management) solutions
• Prioritize risks based on asset criticality and exposure

Incident Response & Threat Investigation

• Investigate endpoint security incidents and perform root cause analysis
• Leverage SIEM tools such as Splunk for log analysis and correlation
• Recommend and implement preventive security measures

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Develop scripts (PowerShell, Python) to automate security operations and reduce manual effort
• Continuously improve security tooling, workflows, and response capabilities

Required Skills/Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering, with a strong focus on endpoint security (backend/tooling side)
• Proven experience deploying and managing EDR and antivirus solutions in enterprise environments
• Strong expertise in vulnerability management and remediation workflows
• Experience working with Windows, Linux, and/or macOS endpoints
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms and log analysis
• Scripting/automation experience using PowerShell, Python, or similar
• Solid understanding of threat detection, incident response, and endpoint hardening
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

• Preferred Qualifications:
• Industry certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or CEH
• Experience with CAASM or asset management platforms
• Exposure to enterprise-scale security environments and tool integrations
