Assistant/Associate Professor of Primary Care Eligible for a Competitive Signing Bonus and Relocation Assistance Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine is building a team of leaders within the Department of Primary Care and is seeking exceptional candidates for full-time faculty positions on both our Joplin and Kansas City campuses. This opportunity is ideal for new or experienced physicians who are passionate about advancing osteopathic medical education, scholarly activity, patient care, and community impact. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Primary Care, the selected candidate will join a collaborative academic environment dedicated to innovative medical education and the integration of osteopathic principles throughout undergraduate and graduate medical education. Position Responsibilities Teaching across the four-year DO curriculum in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and web-based learning environments Designing and delivering innovative clinical and osteopathic-focused education, including clinical diagnosis, treatment techniques, and osteopathic principles and practice Facilitating large group instruction, small group learning, clinical skills training, simulation activities, telemedicine education, and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) Developing course materials and syllabi while actively participating in curriculum and assessment design initiatives Evaluating student performance and providing timely written and verbal feedback Mentoring students, fellows, and peers in research and scholarly activities leading to presentations and publications Participating in admissions activities, student advising, faculty interviews, and university events such as White Coat and Commencement ceremonies Serving on college and university committees and taskforces Engaging in continued professional development and accreditation-related activities Participating in patient-centered, team-based clinical care, including clinical practice opportunities within an FQHC setting 1-2 days per week Supporting educational and outreach initiatives that improve the well-being of the communities KCU serves Demonstrating professionalism, ethical conduct, and commitment to the mission and vision of the University Contributing to specialized initiatives including point-of-care ultrasound curriculum development Opportunity to serve KCU's mission in an international capacity as part of the Honors Track in Global Medicine elective courses and trips Required Qualifications DO or MD degree from an accredited institution of higher education Completion of a residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Preventive Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, or related primary care specialty Board eligible or board certified in an appropriate specialty Eligible for or currently holding unrestricted medical licensure in Missouri and Kansas Current or eligible for DEA/BNDD certification and hospital appointment Ability to integrate osteopathic principles and practices into teaching and clinical education Commitment to collaborative, student-centered medical education Preferred Qualifications AOA Board Certification or Board Eligibility in a primary care specialty strongly preferred Experience teaching medical students in preclinical and/or clinical academic settings Interest in caring for underserved populations Experience with curriculum development, assessment strategies, and instructional design Knowledge of educational technologies including learning management systems, virtual instruction platforms, audience response systems, and assessment software Familiarity with innovative teaching methodologies such as team-based learning, flipped classroom models, simulation-based education, and distance learning Experience writing COMLEX- and USMLE-style assessment questions Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills Why Join KCU?
