Head Softball Coach

Head Softball Coach Rose‑Hulman Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of Head Softball Coach. This position provides an opportunity to lead and grow a collegiate softball program while cultivating a strong, positive team culture centered on accountability, connection, and shared commitment, and mentoring student‑athletes to achieve excellence, integrity, and inclusion both on and off the field. Responsibilities and Duties Provide leadership in recruiting and cultivate a competitive softball program that delivers a positive and impactful student‑athlete experience. Serve as a visible ambassador for the Institute, enhancing public relations and program exposure while preparing the team for HCAC and non‑conference competition with the goal of achieving national competitiveness. Ensure full compliance with all NCAA, HCAC, and Institute policies while planning and directing comprehensive team and individual training programs. Lead team practices and conditioning sessions; evaluate student‑athlete performance; determine competitive participation; scout opponents; develop game strategies; and supervise an Assistant Coach. Collaborate closely with athletic trainers and departmental staff, including equipment, sports information, and facilities personnel. Lead all aspects of recruiting by identifying, evaluating, and managing prospective student‑athletes through a comprehensive, year‑round recruitment strategy. Conduct official and unofficial visits; evaluate high school, club, and collegiate programs domestically and internationally; and finalize athlete selections aligned with program goals and institutional values. Support student‑athletes’ academic achievement, facilitate connections with campus and departmental resources, and serve as a departmental spokesperson while providing leadership within the local community and beyond. Oversee team scheduling, logistics, and extensive travel planning, including transportation of student‑athletes and equipment. Manage the program’s budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility while making purchasing recommendations to the Athletic Director. Cultivate relationships with alumni and supporters and collaborate with the Office of Institutional Advancement to support fundraising efforts. Qualifications Hold a bachelor’s degree in a sports‑related field and two to three years playing and/or coaching experience, or hold a bachelor’s degree in a non‑sports‑related field and four to five years playing and/or coaching experience. Have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable MVR (motor vehicle report). Preferred: Hold a master’s degree and have Division III coaching experience. Compensation Salary range is $57,000 – $69,000. Salary is competitive. A higher salary may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
