Project Solutions Manager

In 1980, the founder of TEN-E Packaging Services, Inc. anticipated changes coming to governmental standards on the requirements for transporting hazardous material packages related to the chemical industry. The business started in 1989 with revenue of $300,000 the first year. After 35 years in business, the company owns and operates testing laboratories in three locations; Newport MN, Ontario CA, and High Point NC with annual revenue of $8-10 million. The current team of just over 50 employees conducts package and product tests for the chemical, medical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, cosmetic and electronic industries. TEN-E not only tests for companies in the US but also has several international customers. Companies that want to ship their products from Point A to Point B without damage simulate that process at TEN-E and solve issues early. In 2009, the partners started an ESOP (Employee Stock Option Plan) and sold 1/3 of the business to the employees as pension contributions. In 2021, the last 2/3 of the stock was sold and the company is now 100% owned by the employees. The founding partners knew what an effective team they had built and what better way to continue the prosperity of the business than to leave it in the capable hands of the employees. Role Description This is a full-time located in Newport, MN, for a Project Solutions Manager. The Project Solutions Manager plans, directs, consults, and executes activities of complex, high-impact projects to ensure that the goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed specifications, time frame and pricing parameters. Provides customers and personnel with technical support. Represents the company through involvement in industry associations and groups. Qualifications Manage full-cycle highly complex, high-impact projects, determine time frame, pricing, procedures and track progress of testing with negligible management oversight. Serve as primary liaison with the customer for project design. Establish and confirm clear understanding of the project, communicate progress as testing proceeds and assist with any questions along the way. Prepare, send, and follow up on quotes for various types of testing, and communicate with the client. Set up projects in database, ensuring all information is documented in detail. Update database as project progresses to maintain live document of project status. Prepare project reports for management, client, or others. Recommend adjustments to packaging design or testing methods. Prepare project files and appropriate test worksheets with information received from the client. Ensure all required information needed for the laboratory is documented in detail. Remain up to date on current industry standards and requirements. Provide technical support to customers and personnel and respond to inquiries. Represent the company through involvement in industry associations and groups. Participate in meetings, review industry materials, write papers, make presentations, chair a committee, or participate on a board. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: Subject-matter expert in packaging related regulations in applicable area Project management and design skills Demonstrated success in project administration, ability to lead complex projects independently Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and customer service skills Ability to prioritize and handle competing deadlines Ability to read and comprehend technical documents Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a packaging focus; or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. SALARY RANGE: $70,000 - $110,000 The salary range listed for this position reflects a good faith estimate based on experience and qualifications, and the final compensation may vary based on individual factors.
