Food Service Worker

Assume responsibilities in the food preparation and cashier duties as directed by the Child Nutrition Manager and/or designee. Follow and perform routine food preparation and service to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of the cafeteria operations. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as, district policies, procedures, and regulations. Essential functions include assisting in food preparation and cashier duties, operating kitchen equipment, cleaning and sanitizing work areas, serving meals, and performing routine cleaning tasks. Ability to perform basic math, follow safety procedures, and comply with local laws for storage and disposal of trash and food products is required. Wash pots and pans, unpack supplies, assist with stacking dry storage and refrigeration shelves. Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, integrity, cooperation, and efficient use of time in the performance of assigned duties. Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions. Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job. Participate in professional development activities as required by the district. Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include possessing a current Food Handler's Card or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment with the district. Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions in English. Valid Texas/New Mexico driver's license/ID card; subject to the district's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation; must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier. Continual standing, walking, pushing and pulling; must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 50 pounds frequently; moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures; work under all weather conditions; be adaptable to work a shift schedule and/or hours other than regularly assigned; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing (ladder) and lifting.
