Automotive Service Writer & Parts Specialist

Great news! Schillings is currently looking for an experienced Automotive Service Writer & Parts Specialist to join our Operations team in Mokena. This position plays a key role in keeping our fleet repair shop organized and productive. The right candidate will have automotive/shop experience, understand how a repair shop operates, and be comfortable working directly with mechanics, vendors, and operations personnel. This is not strictly a desk position. We need someone who can manage parts and work orders, be comfortable in the shop, and assist technicians as needed. Responsibilities: Source and order automotive parts while balancing cost, quality, and delivery time Track parts orders and ensure technicians have what they need to keep repairs on schedule Open, update, and complete work orders using Fleetio Maintain accurate repair, parts, and fleet records Communicate repair status and delays with dispatchers and company locations Coordinate warranty claims, returns, credits, and core exchanges Work directly with vendors and technicians to resolve parts issues Assist mechanics as needed with general shop tasks Help keep the parts and shop operation organized and efficient Qualifications: Previous automotive, fleet, parts, service-writing, or repair shop experience strongly preferred Good working knowledge of automotive parts and repair terminology Must understand the basic workflow and day-to-day operation of a repair shop Strong computer, data-entry, and organizational skills Fleetio or other shop/fleet management software experience is a plus Ability to manage multiple repairs and priorities at once Strong communication and follow-through Dependable, accountable, and team-oriented Comfortable working both at a computer and in an active shop environment What We’re Looking For Experience is an important factor for this position.
