Mechanical Engineering Team Lead

Position Summary We are searching for a Mechanical Team Lead to manage a team of mechanical engineers, EITs, and designers at HDR’s Wichita, Kansas location. Responsibilities Assist the Mechanical Business Class Leader with management and culture of the overall business class by supervising a team of mechanical engineers, EITs, and designers with varying experience levels. Collaborate with fellow Mechanical Team Leads and the Mechanical Business Class Leader on work staffing and project proposals. Provide team leadership focused on technical excellence, quality, recruiting, mentoring, and staff development. Work closely with mechanical market sector leadership to ensure technical excellence in key markets including commercial, civic, industrial, federal, water, transportation, education, laboratories, and mission‑critical facilities. Act as design lead and/or engineering project manager for key projects. Implement, monitor, and support company policy. Collaborate with other team leads, business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts. Encourage and participate in work-sharing and mechanical practice development across HDR’s national Mechanical Business Class. Assist the Mechanical Business Class Leader in recruiting and growing the business class. Perform other duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis. Experience developing and managing diverse teams. Preference given to local candidates. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Minimum of 7 years of experience. Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on role. Strong communication and listening skills. Ability to handle multiple assignments. Good leadership and organizational skills. Commitment to being an active participant of HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
