Medical Coder for AI Training

Perform professional medical coding and documentation review to create high-quality labeled data used to train and evaluate next-generation AI systems. This remote contractor role focuses on accurate assignment of ICD-10 and CPT codes, application of Evaluation and Management leveling guidelines, and providing domain feedback that improves datasets and model behavior. No prior AI experience is required.

• Annotate and review clinical records, assigning correct ICD-10 and CPT codes based on documentation.
• Apply Evaluation and Management leveling using official E and M guidelines to validate and enrich datasets.
• Use current coding reference materials to ensure compliance with up-to-date coding standards.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders through written and verbal communication to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities in clinical documentation.
• Provide detailed feedback on coding rules and edge cases to refine project workflows and improve model understanding.
• Contribute subject matter expertise to the creation, validation, and quality assurance of medical code datasets used for AI training.

• Active AAPC Certified Professional Coder, CPC, certification is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems and Evaluation and Management leveling guidelines.
• Experience coding a range of clinical documentation types and handling associated coding challenges.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to clarity and detail.
• Access to up-to-date official ICD-10 and CPT coding books and current E and M guidelines.
• Familiarity with digital annotation tools or prior participation in data-driven annotation projects is a plus.
• Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous learning in a fast-evolving healthcare and technology environment.

• Engagement type: Contractor.
• Location: Remote.
• No prior experience with AI required; domain expertise in medical coding is the primary requirement.

Pay range: $55.00 to $68.00 per hour.

• Must hold an active AAPC CPC certification.
• Must have access to current official ICD-10 and CPT coding resources and E and M guidelines.
• Must be able to work as an independent contractor in a remote arrangement.
