Sr Major Gifts Officer

Position: Major Gift Specialist – Philanthropy Team at UMass Memorial Health Salary: $101,025.60 – $181,854.40 (exempt) with potential signing bonus. Regular schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, 40hours per week. As an internal caregiver, student, or contingent worker at UMass Memorial Health, you may apply through your Workday account. This role supports the organization’s mission through major gift development and stewardship. Major Responsibilities Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, meeting with 5–10 prospects or donors monthly. Collaborate with internal leaders (chairs, chiefs, physicians) to advance donor conversations and support fundraising goals. Prepare briefings, prospect reports, and written materials to communicate cases for support. Coordinate with philanthropy staff on grateful patient and friend qualification and moves management. Develop deep understanding of UMass Memorial Health’s mission, programs, and priorities to craft compelling cases for support. Assist with annual program planning, goal setting, progress reporting, and evaluations. Participate in prospect strategy meetings and develop short‑ and long‑term prospect plans for top donors. Leverage existing donors and volunteers for new prospect leads and introductions. Plan and execute focused cultivation, stewardship events, or virtual updates; follow up to encourage continued engagement. Capture and log all donor interactions and proposals in Raiser's Edge; maintain accurate records. Develop proposals and other written materials as needed; collaborate on cultivation, recognition, and stewardship materials. Position Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum five (5) years in major gift solicitation and stewardship, with proven success in one‑to‑one solicitations. Skills: Excellent writing and interpersonal communication, ability to manage multiple demands independently and as part of a team. Preferred: Experience in healthcare fundraising.
